Hot n fun in the Summertime
In July, we finally got our first "River" trip in for the summer. We went back to Temple Bar because it is less crowded and we knew we could probably find a beach suitable to camp on. We traveled onto Hoover Dam and traffic stopped as we waited for a couple of river rafts to cross in the opposite direction. Tim was pretty stoked as he has crossed Hoover Dam more than a few times and this was his first opportunity to get out and look over the Dam. Here is what he saw: After driving all day, we pulled into Temple Bar Marina just before sunset. A disappointing scene appeared as the wind gusted through the marina and whipped up the water with lots of white caps. We looked at each other and said "There's no way we're launching boats in this weather!" After scrambling for a few minutes we made a beeline to the office to see if we could rent rooms to sleep in that night. Home Sweet Home! Be it EVER so humble....excitement abounds Sima and Roscoe were down with the Cabin That evening we talked of options. Should we stay and see if the weather would improve? (the forecast was for high winds and thunderstorms over the next few days). Should we go to another area on the River? (the forecast was pretty much the same up and down the river). Should we give it up and go home? No, we're tougher than the weather! So we decided to get some sleep and see what the conditions were in the morning. I called Jana who was driving all night with her friend Favian to meet us, to tell her of our situation. She never gave it a second thought. She said we had been through thunderstorms before and came out fine. We rose the next morning to an absolutely gorgeous day! No wind or thunderstorms! We launched the boats and found a nice cove to set up our camp. For the next four days, we had the most incredible weather and water we've ever had at Mead! Yes it really was this calm and glassy the entire time!

Graduations and Weddings
This summer we were blessed to participate in a number of celebrations. A few of our friends had high school senior graduates. Here are the honored graduates: Derek , oldest son of Ed and Rhonda Zack, youngest of 3 children of Joel and Jill Daniel, oldest son of Andrew and Melanie Kyle, youngest son of Greg and Lori Greg and Lori had another event, their son Christian's wedding to Sarah. Christian and Sarah met through E-Harmony. Another success story :) The ceremony took place in a beautiful church. Christian's Mom sang while Sarah's Mom accompanied her on the piano. We also got to be a part of Katrina and Louis's wedding ceremony. Katrina's grandparents stood up during the ceremony and imparted their wisdom of a long and solid marriage. Alex had the privilege of standing in as Best Man to his good friend Luke in his wedding to Jaclyn. Luke's mom took this picture of Alex and Keegan at the wedding. God has given us so many great friends and we are grateful to be a part of these celebrations.
